Science

The aim of the science curriculum in preschool and kindergarten is to help children understand the world that surrounds them. Children learn to observe, experiment, sort, organize and label information that is presented in science materials. Hands-on lessons in the areas of botany, zoology, astronomy, geology, and physical science are included within the curriculum.

Every year at the Montessori Language Academy, children plant their own flowers and vegetables at our garden and learn plant life through first hand experiences. In summer, children feed Monarch Butterfly larvae to observe their life cycle, and release them in fall. They also expand their experiences outside the school through periodical field trips to various museums. Through these experiences, students are able to learn all about themselves and the world around them.
